I've been thinking about fairies. You see, the NHL has recently discovered the grace OddParents Netflix / Roku. And the "discovery", I mean I showed him knowing full well that it would be hooked. Of course, television is geek-in-training who he is, he immediately went on a quest to watch all the episodes there.
If you are not up to date on your Nicktoons, here's the quick rundown. Timmy was a little boy who has a hard time. It is unpopular in the school, parents often ignore it and a baby sitter terrorized him for fun.Fortunately for him, he assigned two fairy godparents - Cosmo and Wanda. Their job is to help her be happy until he is good enough to not need more fairies. At that time, he loses his tale, loses his memories of them, and they will be reassigned to another child miserable. They grant wishes with comical results while trying to keep their existence secret.
At one point while listening to an episode, I wondered about the guy who did the voice for Timmy's dad. It's a pretty distinctive voice and I wondered if I had heard elsewhere.Being a Geek TV, I loaded and browsed more IMDB Page OddParents. I have not seen Dad Timmy right away, so I watched a few of the other voices. That's when I noticed two things.
First of all, Timmy's parents and godparents are expressed by the same people. Cosmo voice and the voice of Papa Timmy are Daran Norris while mom Wanda and Timmy just Susanne Blakeslee. This adds an interesting wrinkle in the whole series since his fairy godparents often act as surrogate parents (for better or worse) to Timmy.
Second, I began to notice a pattern with some of the voice actors. Some of them also voice characters in another series that boys like: Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!
This series, aimed at a younger set, is about the adventures of a being yellow (exactly what he and his friends are not clear) named Wubbzy loves to have fun, friends of Walden (who loves Read / student / science), Widget (who likes to build things), Daizy (who loves gardening). All these characters, except for Widget, the voice actors to share Fairly OddParents characters.
