Showing off blooms

Coasters next month can show their beauty to the garden's Daffodil Wynyard Garden Club's annual flower show and the spring.

Chairman Michael Dixon said last year's show was one of the largest and hopes this year, September 10-11, the event would be even bigger and better.

"Last year we were really struggling to find space to put all with about 50 exhibitors," he said.

"The hall was packed with all kinds of plants _ a lot of daffodils and a strong selection of camellias and rhododendrons and many varieties of cut flowers on the show.

Mr Dixon said exhibitors from all over the coast.

"Many take their gardening very seriously," he said.

"The result is a very high standard that could compete with other shows in Australia."

Mr Dixon said this year's jury was composed of several long-time Northwest producers.

"There is nothing they do not know the daffodils," he said.

While the show is mainly daffodils, Mr. Dixon said he expected to see a rainbow-colored flowering of local gardens.

"It is a wonderful time of the year. You can see a variety of spring flowers, including camellias and many natives, "he said.

If you want to see if your flowers blossoming daffodils, rhododendrons and spring are worthy of a prize, entries will be from 7 September 9 8:00 p.m.-8 and 9am on September 10 and cost $ 2.

Mr Dixon said the show was much more than a chance to win prizes.

"It's an opportunity for people to display their products to the public so that the community can get an idea of what is happening in the area as far as gardening is concerned."

Mr Dixon said he also encouraged people to enter the garden and we hope to join the Garden Club of Wynyard.

"We have a great hit, but we hope to attract new younger members of our very active club, he said.

The show will be held at the Uniting Church Hall, Wynyard, 10:30 to 4:00 p.m., September 10, 10 am to 15 pm Sept. 11.
