Sunny day predicted for Boise Music Festival
“Come well prepared with sunscreen and stay hydrated throughout the day,” Peak Broadcasting Senior Vice President Kevin Godwin said. “We will have several places throughout the festival to find shade, to purchase water and beverages and enjoy the music.”
Thirty local bands will begin playing at 9 a.m. on venues throughout the park, with the Commercial Tire Main Stage beginning at 2:15 p.m. This year’s national acts include He is We, Rock Mafia, Andy Grammer (current hit “Keep Your Head Up”), Safety Suit and Sugar Ray (led by lead singer Mark McGrath, contestant in last season’s NBC Celebrity Apprentice). MC Hammer (known for hits “You Can’t Touch This” and “2 Legit to Quit”) will also take the stage, along with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (songs include “I Love Rock N' Roll” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You”).
New this year is the Boise Music Festival Idaho Lottery scratch-off prize ticket, distributing 20,000 tickets throughout the day, with 7,000 guaranteed winning tickets. Prizes include products from Pepsi, a Festival VIP Experience, signed guitars by the artists, tickets to the “best seats in the house,” backstage meet-and-greets, and the grand prize of a Nissan 350Z from Internet Auto Rent & Sales.
The festival, presented by Pristine Pools and Spa, also includes the Kansas City Barbecue Society, sanctioned Idaho State BBQ Championships — with $10,000 in prize money — arts and crafts vendors, food courts, beer and wine gardens, and a play area (including bounce-houses) for the kids.
